At 23 years old, Sonya began serving as a live-in maid to a high-ranking Taliban officer, despite the anguish she knew the relationship would inflict. After extracting intelligence over the course of 3 months, Sonya enacted a plan to quietly assassinate the officer by poison. Realizing he had ingested poison, the officer strangled Sonya until her body collapsed just as the poison took its fatal effect. Near death, Sonya escaped from his desert compound and returned to Rebel headquarters, where she developed and produced anti-thermal tactical apparel to aid against the widening availability of thermal optics within the Taliban armies. Her experience with development, production, and exports gave her the proficiency to start other apparel businesses. She produces and wholesales black and minimal shirts, underwear, socks, and other garments via Port Royal.
